Dorothy Perkins Style Essential for Autumn/Winter 2013

 

I'm a big fan of Dorothy Perkins and everyone knows that right. Well when last few weeks I posted a collage of pictures of the Dorothy Perkins dresses I tried in my Instagram & Facebook & asked for some of your opinion which to buy. And the blue dress is the top pick and I bought it few days ago :) 

So many people always asked me how do I usually pick my dress, first we got to know our body shape. I know I looked the best in flare dress. So this coming autumn/winter collection out in the store, what should I pick? I got to consider the weather that we have in Malaysia which is summer all year long with lots of rain at year end!

This time around Dorothy Perkins has collaborated with Ms. Natalie Hartley who is the Fashion Director in InStyle Magazine in UK to introduce the "Style Essentials" for this autumn/winter 2013.

According to Ms. Natalie's fashion tips, she said this type of dress is Dorothy Perkin's signature, where it is perfect for most body shape, where we can wear with pumps for day or heels at night! And yes I do love flare dress and it is a must have in all girl's wardrobe! 

Thanks to the kind people in Dorothy Perkins who sent me this Black/white check 2 in 1 skater fit & flare dress before it was even available for sale in Malaysia so that I could be the first one in Malaysia to wear it :)

For my day look on weekends, I pair it with my wedges & a sling bag and was ready to catch up lunch with my friends & shopping!

I wore this to one of the important meeting I attended few weeks ago where I need to look professional. I matched it with black Coat, black pump & black tote bag to complete the look. Don't you think this dress looked like a cheat 2 pieces here? 

The flare dress material is really comfortable to wear & the cutting flatter my body shape. I love how it can from a casual look to a professional look. And after the meeting , I took out the coat, change my shoes and well it look more casual like above :D 

After that I went to the Dorothy Perkins store to check out the remaining of the A/W collections & I did followed Natalie's fashion tip!

On the left, the Sculpted Tee in Red is really comfy, versatile and easy to match either with pants or skirt. Unfortunately it was a bit too long for me or else I would totally get this...

Check playsuit with black shorts and collar detail inside leg is really cute right! I was thinking whether I should get this or not. Should I get this ?

This Ivory lace top 2 in 1 dress is love in first sight, one can never go wrong with white or black, especially if it's lace. I love it's simplicity and immediately bought this when I tried it!

Dorothy Perkins Blush embellished 2 in 1 dress with black pencil skirt.

The left one has really nice details on the top while the left comes in full black gave an illusion of slimmer figure. Both below cutting is really body hugging especially the right one because its leather material and does not flatter my shape.. I would think it would look nice for people that has smaller bottom. 

I also bought this Plum 1/2 sleeve mesh top dress, love this colour!

Trying hard to pose like model ...success or not?

I love wearing dresses and many have asked where I always get my dress right ? 

Do you know...being a plus size is so so so difficult, because we can only admire from far those beautiful dresses. I used to always asked myself WHY is there no pretty & fitting plus size clothes for us? I used to think plus size  fat people only can wear loose & baggy clothing or squeeze into those clothing and feeling not comfortable at all... because there is no fitting clothes for plus size! And I used to hate to dress up.. because always feeling ugly, down and not confident at all!

I used to hate taking pictures of full length picture because those clothes that I wear are so ugly but now I want to show to people what I wear because those dresses that I wore now.. is so beautiful! I came across Dorothy Perkins many years ago and since then I never look back!

All that above is old stories after I found my saviour!

Dorothy Perkins has been around for over 90 years and is a firm favourite on the British high-street if you don't know! They offer sizes from 6 - 22 and thanks to Dorothy Perkins... finding the right size clothing is never been a problem for me anymore!

So it is no secret that Dorothy Perkins is my favourite fashion brand and to be honest I got to be honest more than 90% of my clothes in my wardrobe are from them! And I am looking forward to dress up myself every single day!

Usually I shop in their store and every week I will visit the store to see what is new, but ever since Dorothy Perkins offers online shopping for Malaysian (http://my.dorothyperkins.com) since last year November, serious shopping has never been so easy! 

Ah this is love at first sight, seriously! Well I lost count how many lace dresses I have at home, never mind... lace dresses is so addictive! I never own a lime colour dress, so this would be my first one! 

Found this black petal sleeve dress at 50% off! Must grab because one can never go wrong with LBD !

Hehe my total purchase RM259 and yeh I got a free standard delivery for spending RM249 (or else delivery fee of RM50 is quite dear!)

It took around 2 weeks for my order to arrived via registered post. It was carefully packed & I received the clothes in good condition :) Thumbs up! 

Even the dresses come with the hanger & plastic!

The Little Black Dress fit me perfectly! Material is 97% cotton, so very comfy!

From a plain black dress, I match it with red belt & carry a red clutch... and now I'm ready to go for a party! 

Oh don't forget to match it with your favourite red lipstick. Here I'm wearing Maybelline Colour Sensational in Red Porcelain lipstick!                   

Here comes the Lime Lace Dress! Was really happy the quality & look came exactly like how it looked in the website! Ah Dorothy Perkins never fails me! 

I love how the black belt sash defines my waistline and gives illusion the waist looked smaller than it is.. looked like got S shape . Also ah.. notice how my big arm is being covered by slightly by the mini sleeve :D

Unexpectedly lime color actually can match my skin tone color quite well! Notice the lace leaf motif ... <3

The thing about this dress is that not only it looked elegant for a night out but it is so easy to wear, i.e no need to match it with additional accessories like belt, necklace etc....well just ready to go with my Lewre green heel...

Honestly being a plus size not a problem anymore ever since I discovered Dorothy Perkins years ago! And  now dressing up is one of my hobbies one and always I m looking forward to shop for a new dress!

Ah finally the new Dorothy Perkins Kardashian Kollection has launched in UK! It has not reached our Malaysian shore yet, but is okay!

Let's us have a sneak preview of the summer collection!

Ah I have my eyes on a few things, but for sure the ombre jacket & dress are to be die for! 

I would think this new summer collection is better than the previous Kardashian collection which was launched last year November which focus on lots of leopard prints (Click HERE to read about last year Kardashian collection)

Since it is only launched in UK at the moments, more images & details would be at the official Dorothy Perkins UK FB

The Dorothy Perkins Kardashian Kollection was officially launched in Mid Valley, KL last Thursday. I was really anticipating for the launch since I first came to know about it via my email subscription with Dorothy Perkins UK and was invited to be the very first few Malaysian to see the launch of the collection.

In the Kardasian Kollection, we will see Kim’s glamorous red carpet looks, Kourtney’s  Bohemian chic style and Khloe’s which always opt for edgier style. All aiming to flaunt their voluptuous figures in the best possible way.

Spotted Malaysia celebrities : Daphne Iking, Serena C and Sazzy Falak all dressed in the gorgeous Kardashian Kollection.

Besides the Kardashian Kollection which will be added into the Dorothy Perkins Autumn/Winter 2012 collection, there are other Dorothy Perkins inhouse designer collection which is worth checking out!

After browsing around, I picked a few and went to changing room. I didnt take any leopard print because I think I have quite a few in my wardrobe and I think its enough.

 

 Kardashian black upper lace dress RM 293.00

This classic black dress from the Kardashian Kollection features on trend black lace half sleeves and upper body. With a v neck and in a pencil skirt style, this dress is flattering and chic.

This is a very body hugging dress for me & too long! I have quite a few lace dress like this from their previous collection so I wasn't really impressed 

 

Kardashian blue v neck dress RM 259.00

This super stretchy v neck pencil dress from the Kardashian Kollection has a chic and flattering style. In a chic black colour with a zip at the back, this dress is perfect for an evening out or party. Pair with your favourite heels and the Kardashian Kollection black cropped blazer.

I picked up this dress because I absolute love this blue electric dress and was actually hunting for one. But don't look too flattering on me unfortunately.

 

 Black tiered sequin dress if not mistaken RM 323.00

A beautiful black chiffon dress with sequin bodice and layered skirt. Super loved this one! 

Black embellished prom dress RM396

This teal prom dress features gorgeous embellishment on the bodice and a stunning mesh yoke neckline. With a flattering waist tie at the back and a pleated skirt, this dress would look great with a simple clutch and classic court shoes.

Love the color & cutting of the dress. But its not wallet friendly .. still thinking whether I should get the above dress or this...

I wore my Dorothy Perkins Bronze/pink satin lace dress RM289 which I bought 2 weeks ago for my birthday since the theme of the launch ia Gold and Glamourous.

Overall I think Kardashian Collection has really pretty prints & cutting but mostly it is body hugging which will flaunt your figure, their size starts from 8 to 16. I could see the collection is dominated with black, teal & leopard prints and a bit of lace is a feminine twist to any outfit. The Kardashian Kollection ranges from RM193 to RM323.  Personally I prefer their existing in-house designer A/W 2012 collection because the fitting was better and have more choice of colors selection! 

Also more recently Dorothy Perkins online finally ships to Malaysia however the shipping cost is steep RM50 (which takes 8 working days ) and RM100 (which takes 4 working days). I would rather shop in store & enjoy my 10% discount rebate as Fast Forward Member and get to try until I am happy. UNLESS there is a really a good sale!

The Kardashian Kollection will be available in 7 selected Malaysia Dorothy Perkins stores – Mid Valley, Empire Subang, Bangsar Village 2, Sunway Pyramid, 1 Utama, Pavillion and The Curve. Not sure if they it would be available nationwide soon!
