Swatch and Review : Laura Mercier Gel Lip Colour in Heartbreaker

I gotten myself this Laura Mercier Gel Lip Colour in Heartbreaker which is a limited edition colour under the Laura Mercier Summer 2014 Colour Story : New Attitude Collection which I blogged earlier on here.

Before I swatch and share my review about this Laura Mercier Gel Lip Colour in Heartbreaker, let me recap that for this 2014 summer Laura Mercier released 4 limited editions colour gel lip colour. Laura Mercier Gel Lip Colour is an innovative gel-based lipstick that cushions lips in comforting, sheer colour with a shine finish and subtle sweet vanilla flavor. The super smooth formula leaves lips conditioned and hydrated. Out of the 4 colours, Heartbreaker and Clementine are my favourites.

Believe it or not I don't really have a lot of sweet pink lipstick colours like this in my stash because I think it's too girlish for me. Nude lipstick is not my colour too because I have quite a pinkish lip colour and usually I would prefer to go bright colour like for red, berry or coral colour.  Nevertheless let me see if I could carry this Heartbreaker soft pink shade now :)

As you can see Laura Mercier Gel Lip Colour in Heartbreaker comes in a sweet pink colour, very sheer for the 1st layer and it built up a little bit as I layered it.

Texture : Smooth and gel like, non sticky
Scent : Light vanilla scent
Pigmentation : Sheer

Review : Laura Mercier Gel Lip Colour in Heartbreaker colour turned out to be really pretty and sweet on my lips and it actually make me feel younger. The lipstick is smooth and easy to apply but it need a little bit of effort to balance up the colour on my lips ( at least 2-3 layers is needed) as the colour is sheer with shine finishing.  I like how this feel somehow hydrating on my lips, unfortunately it is not really lasting. It lasted me a 2 to 3 hours only and if I'm having a meal with it... I need to do touchup immediately after that. And I do realise the problem when I apply sheer colour like this, the lines on my lips looks so much obvious now :(

Pink eyeshadow, pink cheek and pink lips! 

I put on Lavshuca Eye Shadow CS in PK-1 (light pink on the inner corner of my eyes and purple on the outer corner of my eyes). Top up with a little bit of brown eyeshadow on top of the purple colour. And I had my fav Too Faced Sweethearts Perfect Flush Blush on my cheek!

Review & Swatch : Shu Uemura Tint in Gelato : Lip & Cheek Color - I'm totally sold!

I was introduced Shu Uemura Tint in Gelato : Lip & Cheek Color a while ago and I was not allowed to blog about this until it is available at the store. And yes finally this has hit all Shu Uemura's counter and I can't wait to tell you more!

As most of you know Gelato in Italian means ice-cream. And this refers to the creamy fresh texture and delicious colors of ice-cream! Shu Uemura Tint in Gelato : Lip & Cheek Color comes in different textures from cream base and range from glittery to glossy and to matte finishing.

According to Mr. Shu Uemura's philosophy "Colors are like personalities, they are infinite . I want women to enjoy make-up more freely". Hence this Tint in Gelato Lip & Color can be mix and match to reflect a infinite color variations and multitude of different effects that can be achieved.

Shu Uemura Tint in Gelato Lip & Cheek Color comes in 12 beautiful colours designed to flatter every skin tone. All these would be permanent collection, except for 2 limited edition colour which is AT 04 (Lemon Souffle) and BG 01 (Puffy Chocolate)

All this swatch is done with only just 1 swipe, as you can the colour are really pigmented and this is due to their innovation Controllable Coverage and it has a special ingredient called Elastomeric Gel which gives a very soft and silky, sensorial texture for easy spreading and blending.

With thin application, it results in semi-matte look with a natural sheen finish or use layering for a good color pay off.

Finally I picked Shu Uemura Tint in Gelato in AT 01 and AT 02 for review. Red is my favourite lip colour hence I picked AT 01 Cassis Red and I picked up AT 02 Sugar Plum because this dark fuchsia colour is one of the sharpest colour among all. 

The packaging comes in metallic tube, a simple yet practical packaging as it does not take much space in our handbags.

How to use Shu Uemura Tint in Gelato Lip & Cheek Color? It's pretty simple. 

For lips : Glide on Shu Uemura Tint in Gelato on your lips with the given applicator and use lip brush to draw a defined lip if you want. 

For cheeks : Put a dot of Shu Uemura Tint in Gelato on your cheek and starts blending outwards with your fingertips  for a semi-matte with natural sheen finishing. Remember to use this AFTER your liquid foundation or BEFORE your compact foundation.

Shu Uemura Tint in Gelato in AT 01 in Cassis Red

Shu Uemura Tint in Gelato in AT 01 in Cassis Red comes in classic red colour. It is the most pigmented colour among all the 12 colours and this has the best lasting power of all. 

Texture : Creamy mousse texture but not sticky at all
Pigmentation : Very High ( Just 1 swipe is good enough)
Scent : None

The Shu Uemura's applicator comes in oval shape, it's really soft like suede and pick up the product well. Go light hand with this, because a little goes a long way! There are 2 finishing that can be created using this Shu Uemura Tint in Gelato depending whether you apply a thin or thick coat on your lips. Let me show you how it looks

I applied a very thin coat of Shu Uemura Tint in Gelato on my lips and blend using my finger (or you can use a lip brush) for a soft-matte finish.

For a more dewy satin finishing, apply one thick coat of Shu Uemura Tint in Gelato. The colour is absolutely stunning and looks really great on any skin tone!

I had Shu Uemura Tint in Gelato in AT 01 in Cassis Red on my lips and cheek. It was really easy to blend on my cheek and do remember it's really pigmented so a very little amount would be sufficient.

I love my soft flushed cheek colour! After a long day outside and with 2 meals in between, surprisingly I still can see the red colour stain left on my lips. As for my cheek, the colours last me a good whole day! And if you are into red lip colour, this is totally recommended!

Remember to go light with the eyes makeup when you have such a strong lip colour

Shu Uemura Tint in Gelato in AT 02 in Sugar Plum

Shu Uemura Tint in Gelato in AT 02 in Sugar Plum comes in fuchsia colour. This is the 2nd most pigmented colour after Cassis Red.

Texture : Creamy mousse texture but not sticky at all
Pigmentation : Very High ( Just 1 swipe is good enough)
Scent : None

As I prefer a more creamy & smooth finishing so I applied a  layer of Shu Uemura Tint in Gelato in AT 02 in Sugar Plum generously on my lips before using lip brush to define the lips.

After a long day outside, and with meals in between, the colour dried up to a matte finish. 

On my face I had Shu Uemura Tint in Gelato in AT 02 in Sugar Plum on my lips and cheek. This colour is very pigmented hence you must use really really little on your cheek to achieve this finishing. This Sugar Plum colour is one very classy colour to wear for night events, yet with a thin layer of application and good blending it can works well as day colour too. As now I'm into blue colour dress, I realised this colour matches blue really well.

Which colour do you like on me ? Left (AT 01 Cassis Red) or AT 02 (Sugar Plum)

Tips : For a matte stained look, use the fingers to blend and for a more dewy shiny finishing, please use the applicator or brush to apply.

Honestly I am sold - take my money! 

I absolutely adore the cream mousse texture and the different finishing it can delivers! This Shu Uemura Tint in Gelato is non sticky or drying yet pigmented, hence one layer is good enough to give a full opaque coverage. To me this is a hybrid lip product as this can works as lip colour and lip gloss as well.

Now Shu Uemura Tint in Gelato Lip & Cheek AT 02 in Sugar Plum is now permanently staying in my handbag as I think this is a great colour to wear and very easy to use when I need a quick touch up to glam up! And when I was at their counter few days ago, AT 04 Lemon Souffle (limited edition colour) caught my eyes as it has really fine golden shimmer and could apply on top on other colours to give more shine or to create an ombre/3D effects. I am thinking to get this!

Some may say RM90 is expensive but then again to me this is a 2 in 1 product ( or rather 3 in 1 as this can works as lip colour, lip gloss and blusher!) so I think this justify the price. Most importantly a little of this product goes a long way and there is not much of touch up needed! So I think it's quite a saving in long run!

Estee Lauder introduced the NEW Pure Color Envy Shine Sculpting Lipstick in Malaysia.

Surreal Sun looks coralish with a hint of pink while Boudoir Baby is coralish with a hint of brown. I think Surreal Sun colours is absolutely beautiful - got to check out this soon!

I do find this Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Shine Sculpting Lipstick in Boudoir Baby looks more coral pinkish before I swactched.

Here are 3 layers of swatch of Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Shine Sculpting Lipstick in Boudoir Baby.

I do find  that with 1 layer it is a little bit too sheer but it's buildable and looks pretty after the 3rd layer. Even with just 1 layer I can see there there is a high-shine finishing. Also Estee Lauder has included Multi-Faceted Color Pigments that create shape, definition and volume. 

It looks coral with a hint of brown on my hand , I do realised it looks a little different from the picture above. I think maybe because the lipstick picture was taken indoor and the swatch was taken under natural sunlight. Well let me show you how it looks on my lips.

Texture & Hydration

The texture is creamy, smooth and it easily glides through my lips comfortably. I am happy to report that I could apply this lipstick without puting on my lip balm first as the lipstick is really hydrating and has long lasting moisture. I guess the new and exclusive Time Release Encapsulated Moisture Complex with micronized Hyaluronic Spheres ingredient that help boost lips’ ability to attract, capture and seal-in continuous hydration. No wonder I felt my lips soft, smooth and stay continuously moisturized throughout the day. Compared to the US version, I read that it's less hydrated so I'm really happy with our Asian exclusive ones now :)

Scent 

I am glad to find that this Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Shine Sculpting Lipstick has no scent at all! *jump around happily!* I still remembered the EL Signature Hydra Lustre Lipstick which I had .. has a sweet vanilla scent which I am not really a big fan of it all!

Lasting power & Shine

Honestly the staying power is about few hours including a meal in between and for me that's good enough as long it keeps my lip moist. 

As I mentioned earlier on my lips colour are pretty pinkish and this Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Shine Sculpting Lipstick in Boudoir Baby turns to complement it so well. 

Personally I think Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Shine Sculpting Lipstick would sell pretty well because it fulfils what a women wants in a lipstick - the illuminating colour, shine, long lasting moisture plus the magnetic ultrachic lipstick packaging which gives the feel of pure luxury. 

Now that I have tried the colour, I love the Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Shine Sculpting Lipstick in Boudoir Baby colour as it will actually suits for all occasion and makeup.
