World-renowned Japan martial arts and drum-playing extraordinaires, Drum Tao, will finally be showcasing their internationally applauded performance in KL for the very first time in August. After playing to audiences of more than 5 million, in 400 cities in 17 countries that include Switzerland, Denmark, Israel, USA, Australia, Spain, Belgium, UK and Germany, critically-acclaimed Drum Tao, will explode onto the KL stage with its eclectic mix of dance and martial arts as the dynamic and innovative Japanese performers beat their Wadaiko Drums

Drum Tao is world class entertainment at the highest level. It is an innovative contemporary Japanese production that has thrilled audiences with this ground-breaking presentation and one-of-a-kind show. The two-hour extravaganza features super human efforts by the 16-strong highly disciplined crew of Japanese Taiko drummers, who spend eight months of the year touring the world, giving it their all in the 500 shows they perform a year.

While their skilful drumming is exhilarating, Drum Tao also leap around the stage performing intricate choreography with their split-second timing, dressed in flowing red and black robes.
The end result is mind-blowing martial arts married with mesmerising music, coupled with the musicians’ physical fitness, dynamism and extraordinary synchronicity, make them human rarities.

The incomparable quality and pure unadulterated power and spectacle of their performance perfectly blends the ancient traditions of the Taiko Drumming and martial arts mastery with the innovative and flawlessly choreographed production values of contemporary Japanese excellence.Drum Tao is adored across the world with their unprecedented and timeless drumming performance and bringing a brand new genre to the stage. Although he has 24 hours of rehersal just before the show and he said that this is considered a luxury as back in London he only has 3 hours rehersal before the actual show! I was taken by suprised when he said this!

Aladdin the Musical - Behind the Scene and Meet the Casts

Can you guess which Disney story has a man with a lamp on his hands

Rub rub rub the lamp~and you will find the answer!

It must be my favourite Disney story, Aladdin & the Lamp!!

This is Aladdin & Princess Jasmine from the West End Production who will be performing in Amphitheatre, Sunway Lagoon in the latest production; Aladdin The Musical.

If you have a childhood definitely you will remember about the Aladdin's story. Well it is a favourite tale of a boy’s magical adventure from street rat to Prince, when he is discovered to be ‘a diamond in the rough’ by Jafar, the evil aide to the bubbly and lovable Sultan. With the help of a magic lamp and a jovial ‘rapping’ Genie, Aladdin wrestles against the odds to win the heart of Princess Jasmine while he ingeniously uses good to triumph over evil.

However here, this extravagant West End production will add a modern, musical twist to its stage play. Integrating contemporary pop music with the classic storyline, Aladdin The Musical is a production that all walks of life will enjoy.

Director Chris Colby giving briefing to the members of medias

I was lucky to be selected as one of the bloggers to have the opportunity to meet the casts of Aladdin The Musical last weekends! I have neever been to backstage and this is my first time and I'm excited to share what I see there !

Princess Jasmine

She has beautiful feature, tan skin and beautiful voice like Princess Jasmine !! I fall in love with her voice....

Aladdin & Slave of the Ring

Love her dress~

Who is Aladdin best friend ?

It must be the Genie in the lamp!

The thing about this Genie which I like very much that even that he is not round&cute BUT this notty Genie is really a good dancer and he can even rap ....serious!

I had such a good laugh during their rehersal!!

Highlight of the rehersal is that Aladdin & Princess sitting on a "flying carpet" and singing the song "A Whole New World"

Click and play (turn your speaker to louder volume as the video sound is very soft)

They sing so well!!!! My heart literallly melt (awwwww.....) when Aladdin & Princess Jasmine started singing! Bear in mind, they sing LIVE and no whatsoever of adjustment of tune is made here !

Not forgetting this is a musical hence a lot of singing and dancing by International ensemble cast of dancers, fire eaters and stilt-walkers.

Apart from the talented casts that hail from London’s famous West End, Sunway Lagoon Amphitheatre has turned into The magical land of Askabar which is ready for public vieweing starting this November 25th in a Gala Premiere, which will include special 3D stage effects!

Yes 3D..... and this is the first time they are going to do 3D in a musical!

The magnificient cave where Aladdin was trapped and found the lamp situated on he right hand side of the stage!

Aaron Soo, Chief Executive Officer of Sunway Lagoon said that from flying carpets, pyrotechnics, snow to other aerial performances, their production team will be bringing the magic of Aladdin to life! He said that real livestock such as chicken, goat, ducks and etc will be used at the show during the Market Place scene

Apart from that, the Director shared more than 12o costumes are used in this 2 hours show!

These beautiful costumes are made locally, while some are made in Thailand too!

Very nice props that they are using there!

Joining Chris Colby in this production is David Kort, Choreographer of Aladdin The Musical.

David said Choreographing for Aladdin The Musical is such a different experience from the previous musicals here at Sunway Lagoon as this time around, they will have a moving set, which evolves with the storyline. And this makes for an intense experience not only for the audience but the performers themselves. This production is going to be unlike anything that you have seen in Malaysia and even, at Sunway Lagoon.
