Happy 10th Anniversary to L'occitane Malaysia!

L’occitane who is founded in 1976 in Provence, France is now in over 80 countries and with 1,899 stores worldwide. And just last month, L’occitane Malaysia celebrated their 10th anniversary here in Kuala Lumpur.

Nancy Ferriman, South East Asia General Manager of L’Occitane said that “We’re pleased with the strides we’ve made in Malaysia. We understand that uncompromising premium products and a penchant for subtlety over flash is what have been our key driving initiatives every time a new range is conceptualised. We want our products to speak for themselves through the pleasure and radiant glow of the woman who uses L’OCCITANE in ways that shows that beauty is more than just skin deep.”

She shared that her favourite is Almond Shower Oil where it pampers her skin after a long day at work. It's my favourite too!

A celebration would not be complete without cake-cutting ceremony.

Here are the 10 key L’occitane Malaysia’s milestones over the 10 years

1. The very first L’occitane Boutique’s opening ceremony in KLCC, Kuala Lumpur back in 2004.

2. In July 2006, L’occitane Malaysia brought 3 press members to Provence, the home of the brand, for an exclusive Lavender Discovery.

3. In 2007, L’occitane Malaysia branched out from Kuala Lumpur and opened its first outlet in Queensbay Mall, Penang; followed by the first L’occitane Boutique in East Malaysia at The Spring, Kuching. Two other outstation outlets were opened later in Mahkota Parade, Melaka and Suria Sabah, Kota Kinabalu to bring Provencal lifestyle to more parts in Malaysia.

4. In 2007, L’OCCITANE Malaysia re-launched its bestselling anti-ageing skincare collection, Immortelle Precious formulated by its signature everlasting flowers – Corsican Immortelle.

5. 2009 was an exciting year for L’occitane Malaysia as we launched their first premium anti-ageing skincare product, Divine Cream.

6. In line with L’occitane’s CSR endeavors, the brand’s first local charity fundraising initiative was launched in 2009. A total of more than RM150,000 was successfully raised over the years and donated to the Malaysian Association for the Blind (MAB)to equip the association’s different projects to empower the visually impaired with knowledge. This noble effort has become L’occitane Malaysia’s annual affair, where funds are raised each year to help the visually impaired. L’occitane Malaysia was proudly be commended by Foundation France in year 2013 on its local efforts in helping the visually impaired. L’occitane Malaysia takes pride in its efforts to help these people have a better, brighter future, and they are proud of the award as it encourages them to strive even harder.

 7. In 2010, in line with going green, L’occitane Malaysia introduced its first eco-friendly green house concept Boutique in Mid Valley, Kuala Lumpur and eco-Refill packaging was also introduced to reduce the usage of plastic bottle.

8. The first Melvita flagship boutique was opened in Suria KLCC end 2010. Melvita, L’occitane’s sister brand, was founded by Mr. Bernard Chevilliat in 1983, and offers a wide selection of organic beauty care products developed and formulated in France, featuring bee products as its key ingredients. The grand opening was officiated by Mr. Chevilliat, the founder itself.

9. In 2012, L’occitane Malaysia relaunched its popular hydrating skincare collection, Angelica. Selected members of the press were invited on an exclusive discovery trip to Salagon Garden, Provence.

10. Today, in 2014, L’occitane Malaysia has rapidly expanded its wings over a short period of time. From one humble boutique in Suria KLCC to 18 boutiques nationwide, and from 10 staff to a team of over 150 dedicated employees, its success story continues to grow and flourish…

Last but not least, Happy Anniversary L'ocittane Malaysia!

Although L’occitane is more well known for their body care, their skincare worth a mention because it actually works pretty well on me . As much as I love their body care, I do like their L'Occitane Immortelle Precious where I did a review 2 years ago and it works wonder on me!

Before I end my post, a sneak preview of my next product review on L'occitane Sublime Essence & Beauty Cream. Do check out later to see how it flares on my skin :)

Light Up the Season with L'occitane Christmas Holiday Un Noel a Grasse Collection!

In conjunction with the Christmas Holiday season, L'occitane introduced additional two new limited additions of scents & body products to the existing La Collection de Grasse which was introduced last May.

The NEW Fleur d'Or & Acacia (for her) and Cedre & Oranger (for him) fragrance

L'occitane Fleur d'Or & Acacia (For Her) comes in orange/gold packaging and consists of 8 products.

Key raw materials: Mimosa Absolute from Grasse, Acacia from the Mediterranean Basin.
Family: Musky Floral
Head notes: Lemon, Bergamot
Heart notes: Mimosa, Acacia
Base notes: White Wood, Musk

By looking at the ingredients, it would be a sweet scent for sure. My first thought of L'occitane Fleur d'Or & Acacia EDT (75ml for RM225) when I tried it on my hand is that it has a very strong warm honey scent which is too much for my liking. To my surprise it smell quite different when my friend tried on her hand. So I guess the chemical reaction is different from persons and you got to try it to see if the scent suits you personally.

Besides fragrance, L'ocittane also produced a whole series of body products for this range such as

Luminous Oil (100ml, RM110)
Glitter and light, shimmering particles, shea butter and sweet almond oil…Nourishing yet lightweight, mist this sheer, fluid dry oil over hair and body for a scented veil of moisture.

Shower Gel (175ml, RM62)
Lit up by golden pearly particles, this velvety-soft gel melts into a dense, rich foam on contact with water. Skin is deliciously scented with a powdery floral scent.

Perfumed Soap (50g, RM21)
Bathtime is now a luxurious experience with this soap bar, which gently cleanses with a creamy lather.

Body Milk (175ml, RM92)
The feather-light texture skins in to leave skin smooth and soft with Shea Butter and Sweet Almond Oil. Skin stays comfortably hydrated and wonderfully scented.

Lip Gloss (15ml, RM56)
It has smooth, creamy texture that nourishes, protects and leaves a beautiful sheen on the lips.

Hand Cream (30ml, RM38)
Rapidly absorbed, the scented hand cream nourishes and moisturises hands anywhere, anytime of the day.

Scented Candle (270g, RM135)
Light up your living space with this luminous scent with bursts of refreshing orange that will definitely relax frazzled minds.

While L'occitane Cedre & Oranger (For Him) comes in forest green packaging offers a total of 5 products.

L'occitane Cedar & Oranger EDP (75ml, RM225) offers a fresh woody scent of cedar wood that bring back memories of good times as a child are paired with the scent of orange trees, laden with ripe, juicy fruits. Solemn and majestic yet cheeky, this fragrance is sweetened by hints of musk, to create a bold, intense impression.

Key raw materials: Virginian Cedarwood Essential Oil, Italian Orange Essence.
Family: Citrus Woody
Head notes: Orange, Bergamot, Pine Needles
Heart notes: Cedar
Base notes: Vetiver, Musk

For this men range, there is only 3 products to complement the EDP i.e

After Shave Balm 75ml, RM120: Housed in an understated aluminium tube, this post-shave balm soothes, moisturises and leaves skin lightly scented.

Shower Gel 175ml, RM62: Perfect for the gym or weekends away, this gentle 2-in-1 formula is ideal for skin and hair.

Perfumed Soap 50g, RM21: This non-dying soap bar cleanses without stripping away skin’s natural moisture. Perfect for hands and body.

Between this 2 scent, I would prefer L'occitane Cedre & Oranger although this is the men range. Although usually I don't like very woody or musky scent, but this L'occitane Cedar & Oranger EDP scent caught my attention. The citrus scent seems to balance the musky scent very well. This is worth checking out!

Just like the past years,L'occitane also would be offering limited edition gift sets which is perfect as Christmas gift. Below are the set for this Christmas collection:
Fleur d’Or Leur Collection For Her RM341 (worth RM379) comes with Holiday Box

Finally Melvita a brand from France is in Malaysia, an Ecocert certified organic skincare brand!

Have you heard of Melvita before ? Well they are pretty new in Malaysia! Melvita officially opened its first flagship boutique in Suria KLCC back in 25 October 2011.

Well basically you cannot help not to notice the green striking entrance next to the Isetan entrance at Concourse level. If you have notice, they have blue sky ceiling in their store to give consumers a comfortable and relaxing shopping environment.

And at the corner of the left hand side of the store, you will see a wall of green plants and bear in mind these are REAL plants and in fact some of these plants are the main ingredients of the products!!! I think this is my first time seeing real plants being planted inside shopping mall and now I bet Melvita definitely has the freshest air among the store in KLCC!

Well Melvita is a brand from France was founded in 1983, symbolizes “(MEL) honey” and “(VITA) life”. Melvita's commitment to ecology and nature originates from its founder, Bernard Chevilliat, a biologist and beekeeper and a great lover of nature and beauty.

In 1991, Melvita is one of the first skincare brands in France to be certified by ECOCERT France, and fulfill the standards of COSMEBIO France (Professional Association for Ecological and Organic Cosmetics).

Melvita also guarantees each of their products are formulated with:-
NO Paraffin or Silicone
NO PEG (polyethykebe gkycol) or PPG (polypropylene gylcol)
NO ethoylated ingredients
NO parabens or pheneoyethanol
NO formaldehyde or chlorine
NO Synthetic fragrance or colors
NO diethyl phtalate or nitromusk

Plant extracts and natural oils are quite common for organic skincare and this is the first time I came to know about floral waters. Melvita offers floral waters since they started their business.

Floral waters are obtained by distillation are the most subtle, gentle expressions of plants. The water is in some way energised and contains the soul of the flowers.

The different types of floral waters and usage

Cornflower (calm irritated skin and dry, itchy eyes)
Orange Blossom (For blotchy & irritated skin- smoothing, soothing & brightening effect )
Witch Hazel (Extra Dry & Sensitive Skin -moisturizing & an ideal product after sun exposure)
Lavender (Normal To Combination Skin - purifying and healing effect)

A wide range of products for face care. The price is quite affordable considering it is an organic products!

There are also product for Baby & Mum

The best sellers are locaed at the bees hive look-alike display. And of course they have body products too!

Honey Pollen Hexagon Soap (RM22) is their first produced product for sale. It is enrichedwith active ingredients from the hive and vegetable oils, its rich and extra-gentle foam makes it an ultra-protective care product.

Beauty oils which are extracted using cold pressed method from the fruits or seeds of plants is something I wanted to try. I was always told, beauty oil gave better effect than cream or lotion. And in Melvita, beauty oil is priced at RM137 for 50ml which is quite an affordable price as the quantity needed to appy whole face is relatively little.

First time I came across organic toothpaste for childen! How interesting ? Maybe I will buy this to try when my toothpaste is finished!

Some of the products which I wanted to try!

They actually have a wide range of scrubs and if you know me personally, I'm a scrub fanatic !!! Well I think I will check the scrub out someday and give a try!

Another interesting thing that I spotted is that Melvita has slimming oil (RM120/100ml).... I wonder whether it works and should I should give a try!

Their haircare shampoos smell great here! And I was told by their SA that the deodarant is good and I should give a try...

If you have no idea what to try, why not get this starter kit which consists of 6 products to try at RM130. Quite a good deal with a full set of products to try to see if it works on our face without buying the full size.

Oh before I forgot, Melvita is going to launch a new youthful range called Naturalift Hibiscus Skin Renewal Range in January 2012, which is suppose to make your skincell renew and looked youthful (in another word - prevent anti-aging). Basically Melvita is offering “Green-Botox” organic natural anti-aging solution. The main ingredients in NATURALIFT Hibiscus Skin Renewal Range include various flower seeds with anti-aging functions, including hibiscus, pomegranate, rose hip, borage, Camelina, etc. Well I would be trying some of their products and will do a review once it's ready!

Well have you guys try any products from Melvita, if you did ... share with me here what have you tried or plan to try!

And more recently, Melvita has opened another store in 1Utama and now do I hear some cheer from the PJ folks?

Review : Johnson's 24 Hour Lasting Moisture Body Lotion

A while ago, I received a surprise email from So Soft. So JOHNSON'S Facebook fan page informing me that I have been chosen as one of the 20 fans out of thousands ( to be exact 15,760 fans) that traits of a true JOHNSON'S woman) to participate in a special product test.

So I am putting into test this 200ml bottle of JOHNSON'S Body Care lotion which I received few days ago, and tell you honestly how I feel :)

A little introduction of this JOHNSON'S Body Care lotion

JOHNSON’S® Body Care is the all-new skincare range specially designed for women. Each product is luxurious yet affordable, and provide unique sensorial experiences and long-lasting moisturisation for skin that's beautifully soft.

Nurtures and cares for you & your skin, to look & feel your beautiful best! 24 Hour Lasting Moisture Body Lotion is a moisture-rich lotion to help stop the 3 signs of dryness. It contains

1)Shea butter to help reduce skin tightness
2)Vitamin E to help lessen skin flakiness
3)Jojoba oil to help revive dull-looking skin.

And your skin is moisturized for 24 hours and feels touchably soft & smooth, just like perfect baby skin.

The ingredients list

Smell : This has the similar Johnson&Johnson baby lotion trademark smell which I used when I was young. I do love this smell very much, very addictive!

Texture : Looks creamy but in fact it is very light and watery . Very easy to glide through my skin. And it absorb into my skin almost immediately upon application.

Result : I put to test for few days. Instead of pampering myself with Crabtree & Evelyn Rosewater Body Lotion which I usually apply shower I applied this Johnson's 24 Hour Lasting Moisture Body Lotion all over my body and went sleeping in my air-condition room. Surprisingly the next morning, my skin feel moisturize, softer, NOT STICKY and smell like a baby too!!

I would definitely consider purchasing as the price is much more cheaper and perfect for everyday use for everyday use and I could use it more generously all over my body. And a plus point for the bottle to be in pink color !

This lotion is available for sale at major hypermarkets and pharmacies.

Review: Greenland Fruit Emotions Scrub Salt Lime an Vanilla

A while ago, I was selected to review this Greenland Scrub Salt Lime & Vanilla by Shins. And I have been trying this a while.

All Greenland products from the Fruit Emotion collection are two different essential oils. Each combination of essential oils has its own particular effect on the mind and body. This Greenland Scrub Salt, Lime & Vanilla contains very fine 100% Atlantic sea salt and consists of lime & vanilla essential oils.

Ingredients: Sodium Chloride (Sea Salt), Citrus Aurantifolia (Lime Peel Oil), Vanilla Planifolia (Vanilla Extract), Parfum (Fragrance), Citral, Limonene.

Once I twisted open the bottle, I can immediately recognized the lime smell. The salt came in dried form, and it is very fine in texture.

Note : No spatula was provided in the packaging. And gotta becareful when scopping out the salt.

Instruction how to use stated on the bottle

However when I collected the product from the Shin Mid Valley outlet, the Sales Consultant advised me to to use it together with my shower for better result.

So I decide to tried the both method to see the result.

Scrub Salt + Water

So I used a plastic spoon to scope out the salt and put on my dry skin and slowly add in some water. As the texture is very fine, the salt melt quite immediately as I scrubbed it on my skin. And the area of the scrub that I could cover is quite limited.

Scrub Salt + Shower Gel as recommended by the SA

Here I used my favorite Origins Ginger Brust shower gel to try with the Salt.

Here I could say that the salt does not melt immediately with my shower gel making it easier to scrub compare with the earlier one salt+water. I scrubbed in circular motion and slowly the salt melted and I washed if off with water.

Result : The smell of the salt is not too strong although it consist aromatherapy oils. And as the salt is very fine and easy to melt I would advice to follow the sales consultant's suggestion to use it together with shower gel. After using it, I felt my skin is softer, smoother and have the feeling of squeaky clean

The above Greenland Fruit Emotions Scrub Salt Lime and Vanilla at available for sale at any Shins outlet for RM55 for 400g.
