An Awakening of the Five Senses by Starhill, KL

 

  Last weekends , I was invited by BMIC Secret of Beauty Nail Spa salon to enjoy a enjoyable pampering service at Starhill's An Awakening of the Five Senses event at Starhill KL. 

Rebecca & some of blogger friends were there to enjoy the free manicure pampering service with me :)

First I was given a hand massage . It was really relaxing that it loosen up my hand muscle.

 

Then I was given a nail coloring service of my choice. 

I chose OPI Koala Bear-y from OPI Australia Collection, which is a bright berry pink creme color.

I was told that BMIC Secret of Beauty salon uses only original OPI products.

 After the nail pampering session, I was given a complimentary hand paraffin treatment and RM50 gift voucher to redeem their manicure and pedicure services that are RM150 and above.

 So I went to BMIC Secret of Beauty Nail Spa Salon which was situated at the Pamper floor, Starhill to do my complimentary hand parafin treatment.

First I was checked to make sure that my nail polish are completely dried before I can do the hand parafin treatment as it will melt the nail polish away.

 Then I was asked to soak my hand in a layer of warm wax.

Then my hand was wrapped in a transparent plastic bag, to the the wax harden and to keep my hands moisture.

Then my hands was wrapped with a cotton mitten to keep the warmth of the wax . After 30 mins, the wax was peel off and my hands were smooth and moisture

Good news to all that this coming weekend (28 and 29 May 2011 12pm-8pm) BMIC Secret of Beauty Nail Spa salon also offering special free pampering manicure and complimentary hand massage for the public to try at Feast floor. And apart from BMIC Secret of Beauty nail salon, there are other beauty company such as Asianel, Donna Spa and Serum Mix to Match setting up booth at the event to promote their services too.

The Bodyshop Brush With Fashion Competition Grand Finale with PJCAD

The Body Shop and PJ College of Art & Design (PJCAD) are jointly organizing 'Brush with Fashion', a competition for PJCAD fashion design students to unleash their talent and creativity. Participants are required to submit two designs each for avant-garde and ready-to-wear apparel. Held in conjunction with the launch of The Body Shop's new 'Brush with Fashion' range of on-trend, environmentally sustainable and cruelty-free make-up series, the competition sets a date for finalists to present their creations at the Brush with Fashion Show on April 9, 2011 at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur.

10 finalist from Bodyshop makeup artists will pair with 10 PJCAD students to work together on creating the total look and feel for avant- garde and ready-to-wear-fashion.

Datin Mina Cheah-Foong the Managing Director of Rampai Niaga Sdn Bhd which owns The Body Shop franchise in Peninsular Malaysia and Vietnam shared that " The art of creation is a exciting process - turning an idea into a product or a look. Fashion and make-up is like butter and toast". She hopes that young people everyone will be inspired to turn their dream into reality. Think, act and change.

Mr. Graham Doxey , CEO of Laureate Malaysia who owns INTI College. PJCAD is part of INTI Education Network and has worked with Body Shop on several corporate social responsibility projects before.

A showcase of10 models with the designs that created by PJCAD students, each of them put on a mask. Even though they are still designer students, but some dresses that presented are really pretty that we will be willing to fork out our money to buy!

The 10 models come with bare face (i.e face without makeup) took off their mask and now the 10 Bodyshop Makeup artists take the stage to create a look for this these models in 20 minutes live on stage.

An awesome sight , as I walked around busy taking pictures I saw some really creative and awesome looks that was able to be created within 20 mins! I should learn to do my makeup within 20 mins!

Judges are also busy walking around inspecting the contestants.



Vinz Sebastian (The Body Shop’s Make-up Training and Development Manager) , Allan Chan ( co-founder of Salabiance fashion store) , Melinda Looi and Khoon Hooi the multiple award-winning fashion designer will decide who are the top three winners from PJCAD and The Body Shop who will take home bursaries for the final semester of their studies and cash prizes respectively.

While waiting for result, we are entertained by this energetic & refreshing dance moves by this group named Teenage Dream from PJCAD

Oh , did I mentioned that all the invited audience are invited to vote as well to contributes to the result!

Review : Sigma Synthetic Face Kit

Months ago, I was received a set Sigma Synthetic Face Kit which comes with 3 brushes which promises flawless makeup application. These brushes in this collection feature exclusive Synthetic filament, specially designed to apply powder and liquid products without absorption into the fibers. The shape, density and height of the filaments were carefully engineered to perfectly buff products onto the skin, resulting in a high definition effect.

Although I own a few foundation brush from some reputable brands , however I always can't get the flawless look with those brushes and often end up looking either the makeup application is not even or I slapped with too much foundation on my face and I don't know is it my skills or the brush problem! So now I know why, I didn't get the right brush for myself until now !

F80 - Flat Top Kabuki

The F80 Flat Top Kabuki brush is perfect for applying and blending liquid, cream, and powder products onto the skin. The flat surface allows perfect buffing with flawless results. Synthetic Sigmax HD filament.

Review : This brush is perfect for liquid foundation, I only as little as 5 cent coin foundation and apply with this brush on my whole face. The brush is dense, soft and I used circular motion while applying the foundation. I love how the brush gave me a thin yet evenly covered & smooth coverage on face, concealing all the marks and redness.

F82 - Round Top Kabuki

The F82 Round Top Kabuki brush simplifies precise makeup application under the eyes and around the nose. This brush is also perfect for achieving flawless coverage using liquid and powder products. Synthetic Sigmax HD filament.



Review : The brush head is round and its perfect for nose and under eyes application easy. Looks how the side of my nose are properly brush evenly :) I can never achieve this result if I am applying the foundation with sponge or hands, which is not too much or too little foundation on the face.



F84 - Angled Top Kabuki



The F84 Angled Top Kabuki brush is the perfect brush for precise, yet blended application of products on the cheeks. It seamlessly applies cream, powder and liquid products. Synthetic Sigmax HD filament.

Review : This brush was ideal for me to do highlighting and contouring on my face as I can control the angel on where to apply the powder.


General review
The brushes are extremely usoft and picked up makeup products well because its made from synthetic Sigmax HD filament bristles, and they are designed in a way that it is not absorbing the foundation like sponge. The handle is thick and heavier compare to other foundation brush ( its similar MAC's brush handle) are easy to hold . After one month of using it continuously washing it with my facial cleanser (and sometimes shower gel) several times, I did not experience any fallout of the brush bristles ! Kudos for the good quality! I like how the brushes are given with individual plastic brush guard for hygiene purposes!

Estee Lauder Model Search 2011 is ON

Estee Lauder Model Search Contest 2011 returning in late April, Malaysian beauties can have their moment to shine in the glamorous spotlight as well as showcase their beauty and personality to show that they too have what it takes to be an ‘It’ Girl! That’s right – the search is on again for the two winners of Estee Lauder Model Search 2011 where fabulous prizes await, including an all-expenses paid trip for two to Korea!

This time round, the Estee Lauder Model Search Contest 2011 goes Pure Color for its search of its very own ‘It’ Girl. An important element in makeup, colours can make all the difference in how you feel and look, as well as give you completely new looks each time, igniting your beauty and personality. With this in mind, the Estee Lauder Model Search Contest is on the lookout for the two women who embody the spirit of Pure Color – fun, glamorous and modern!

Starting 25th April 2011, the search for this year’s winners takes place with the Estee Lauder Model Search 2011 road shows at respective shopping malls in major cities nationwide. All hopeful candidates have to do is go to any of these Estee Lauder Model Search 2011 road shows and sign up for their chance to win overnight fame as well as prizes totalling over RM240,000. To qualify, contestants have to purchase the Estee Lauder Model Search 2011 Package for RM300 that entitles them to an entry form, a full makeover by an Estee Lauder Makeup Artist, wardrobe styling by Carven Couture, professional hair styling by Miko Galere, photography session by professional photographers, one instant A4 photo emulating a magazine cover and RM250 redemption voucher for Estee Lauder products.

The entry forms received from the road shows will then be put through a semi-finals judging round whereby the Estee Lauder Model Search 2011 panel of judges will select from the two categories the 10 best entries from the first six road shows. Professional photos of these semi-finalists will then be uploaded onto the Estee Lauder Model Search 2011 website, www.esteelaudermodelsearch.com.my, for a seven-days online voting competition. The top entry with the most votes from each category will be the finalists representing the location for the Grand Finale.

But wait, there is a twist to the competition, with the Wild Card judges round thrown in to make the search even more interesting. During this round, the judges will select from the two categories four more finalists from the last two locations to join the other finalists in the Grand Finale. And to make up the 10 finalists, the judges will also make their final selection from the overall semi-finalists from all locations, picking their top favourite for each category.

From there, the finalists will be given a two-day catwalk training by Andrews Models’ professional catwalk experts. They will then showcase their catwalk and modelling ability as well as their beauty, elegance, confidence and style during the Grand Finale held in Suria KLCC Concourse on 12th July 2011. The Grand Prize winners from both Category A and Category B as well as the subsidiary titles winners will be announced at the exciting and star-studded Grand Finale.

Selecting the 10 finalists will be a gruelling process, which is why Estee Lauder Model Search 2011’s panel of judges consists of industry experts who know what it takes to be a winner and will be able to find the two shining stars the be the Grand Prize winners. The judges are Katrina Liew, Brand General Manager for Estee Lauder Malaysia; Erra Fazira, award winning actress and singer, Andrew Tan of Andrews Models; designer Carven Ong; Miko, the talented hair stylist and founder of Miko Hair Studio & Academy; Mr. Yun Jaejin , Managing Director Korea Tourism Organization Kuala Lumpur office, Brunei and Philippines; Simon Wong, Director, Imaging Communication Products Division of Canon; and Aaron Lee, noted fashion photographer of Myth Studio.
