Review : Fashion Culture Box Queen of Fairies Series

Girls do you know besides picking up the right dress for an important event, accessories can be used to enhance our look & style that we want to portray. Accessories is a great way to help us to recycle our wardrobe, wearing different accessories to pair with our clothes gives different look & feel.

Although I have a lot of accessories at home but there are days where I ran out of ideas how to mix & match my accessories and I really wish I got a personal stylist with me.

Well not all of us can afford to hire personal stylist hence Fashion Culture Box a monthly fashion subscription box in Malaysia is here to help you. Every month they are offering 3 exciting styles for subscribers to choose and with just RM58 per box, subscriber will receive fashion items and beauty products that fit the style that they picked.
And I have asked to pick which style would I like to have for the debut box and I picked Queen of Fairies since I have a number of lace dress which I do not know how to match with any accessories.

In the box, there are 4 fashion accessories and 2 beauty products which is Bloop Nail Polish in Pink and Timeless Truth Snail Extract with Sakura Repairing Mask.To me these beauty products are a bonus to the box.

They also include a booklet to describe the accessories and also on the left showed what are in Queen of Hearts Style box..that red lace chocker definitely caught my attention!

A close up of Queen of Fairies style accessories. The colour theme is gold & sweet peach.

The Midas Filigree Necklace is made of fresh wild rose with a hanging pearl at the bottom. The quality of the necklace is quite fine and looks lighter than it is. Don't you think it matches nicely with my flower motif lace dress!
Dropped of Feather Earrings in peach colour. Love the colour very much. Got to be careful with feather earrings because they are easily damaged. My advice is to keep them separately in zip lock when storing them up.
Flight of Butterflies Bangle & Gentle Wing Ring. Of all the accessories given, I love the bangle the most as the one that I wanted is so overpriced. Plus this has very beautiful butterfly motifs!

I like how the accessories given are adjustable hence I do not need to worry that it will not fit :)

In case you are wondering why my hair is looking so cool now....I had L'Oréal Professionnel Hairchalk in Garden Party (Green colour) and would blog about this soon <3

To be honest I'm quite sceptical when I first heard this fashion box concept because I am concern about thee quality of the accessories. After seeing the accessories given, I think Fashion Culture Box has quite a good taste and standard in picking the accessories for themes that they offered. The 4 accessories matches with the theme given and we can either use them all at once or mix and match.

I would this Fashion Culture Box Debut Box is definitely worth the RM58. And if you are one who do not know much how to style using accessories, Fashion Culture Box is definitely a good one for you to subscribe.

Fashion Culture Box is now opened for subscription and I'm contemplating whether to subscribe their Travel Series : "Beach Holiday" March theme box since I would be going to Boracay in April!

Palm Surgery On The Rise in Japan

Have you been to a palm reading before ? Often these Master Palmist will tell us our fortune and destiny.

And often when they tell us that we have a bad fortune or destiny, we get so depressed right and regretted for doing the palm reading. And recently I came across a very interesting article in Daily Mail UK where there is an increasing demand for palm surgery; this Japanese based cosmetic trend is all about altering the lines on the palm of your hands in the hope it'll change your destiny and therefore improve your life. Although it might sound strange, many men and women are having palm surgery so that they can have longer financial and martial lines.

No doubt many of us have heard about palmistry, the ancient art of reading ones fortunes and destiny simply by reading the lines on our hands, yet only a minority of us ever give real thought to whether it truly works, let alone whether we could change it in some way. Yet in Japan the art is a very popular trend with palm readers charging up to £50 just to read the lines. In previous years clients would merely listen to their readings and accept whatever they've been dealt. However, it's now possible for you to 'master your own destiny' by altering those very markings on your hand.
The procedure involves the use of an electric scalpel as ordinary ones don't burn the skin to create the new lines, and as a result, the desired markings don't form. Furthermore, instead of the need for perfect precision, the lines burnt by the electric scalpel has to be shaky to make the lines look authentic. With anywhere from five lines up to ten being fleshly carved in a single procedure, the whole process normally takes no longer than 15 minutes to complete, however, it takes a further month for the wounds on the palm to heal, and the new lines to be formed.

The biggest question on everyone's lips is whether it truly works. According to Dr Matsuoka, his patient, who desired a wedding line, wrote to him after the healing process and stated she had recently married. (wah maybe those singles out there should try this?) There are also other stories of patients altering their fortune lines and then winning large sums of money via the Lottery, and yet Dr Matsuoka isn't one of the firm believers in whether the surgery makes the difference, and instead wonders whether it is more a placebo effect than anything else.
Whatever your stance on the new trend, there is no denying that 2014 could soon be a year devoted to even more new and unusual cosmetic surgery advancements. I googled and found that this service is currently available in MYA an UK's cosmetic surgery specialists and I wonder if it's available in Malaysia now and would anyone thought of changing their palm lines?

Review : NuCerity Skincerity Nightly Breathable Masque

This is my first time I came across this brand NuCerity which is originated from USA and recently they have just entered the Malaysian market. Skincerity Nightly Breathable Masque one of their star product promises to help our skin feel smoother and look younger in just days.

Introduction of what Skincerity is all about

Skincerity claims that they are the world’s only cosmetic product with patented Breathable Barrier technology that seals in our own natural moisture to deeply hydrate our skin. While the Breathable Barrier holds in moisture, it both infuses antioxidants and allows oxygen molecules to penetrate the barrier to help restore and rejuvenate our skin. In simpler words, they protect and seal in the body’s natural moisture to hydrate the skin. I was also told this can treat all kinds of skin problem including acne, acne scar, pigmentation, fine lines, large pores, and even eczema, rosacea or psoriasis.

A quick look at their main ingredients and their benefits

1. Acetone - Flash dries off the skin in 2-3 seconds to turn the liquid into a dry, skin barrier, flash dries to create microscopic “skin healthy” breathing pores and deep cleans the skin on contact and keeps bacteria out of the bottle

2. Vitis Vinifera (grape seed oil) - powerful nutrient known to relieve stressed tissues and enhance skin moisturization. Vitis Vinifera contains proanthocyanidins, which are very helpful in diminishing the sun’s drying eff ects and lessening free radical damage

3. Vitamin E - gives antioxidant to the the skin and protect skin from UV damage, reduce the formation of free radicals, and further strengthen the skin’s barrier function

4. Patented Polymer - create a thin, flexible Breathable Barrier masque that works for hours and functions much like your own skin.

5. Fragrance - their fragrance is extracted from apple hence it's unlikely to irritate the skin

ACETONE, yes I know those that they used in nail polish remover. I was shocked when I first found out they are using Acetone in their mask. However I was told that the the Acetone used in the mask is pharmaceutical grade and not same with those in nail polish, and it evaporates to the air after 3 seconds and it doesn't go into your bloodstream. To be honest, I wasn't very convinced so I went to my look for my best friend Mr. Google and  found this in Wikipedia
Acetone is produced and disposed of in the human body through normal metabolic processes. It is normally present in blood and urine.
Acetone is used in a variety of general medical and cosmetic applications and is also listed as a component in food additives and food packaging. Dermatologists use acetone with alcohol for acne treatments to peel dry skin.
Acetone is commonly used in chemical peeling. Common agents used today for chemical peels are salicylic acid, glycolic acid, 30% salicylic acid in ethanol, and trichloroacetic acid (TCA). Prior to chemexfoliation, the skin is cleaned and excess fat removed in a process called defatting. Acetone, Septisol, or a combination of these agents is commonly used in this process.
Initially I was quite sceptical to use Acetone on my face but after reading the above facts from Wikipedia, I feel a little more convinced to give this Skincerity Nightly Breathable Masque a try.

The instruction to use is pretty simple, after cleansing the face at night, just apply on this on our face.

Just roll on the skin to use. Pretty simple to use without getting our hands dirty

It also can be used alone or with our favourite skincare products. Do note that if you are applying your usual serum & moistures, do make sure your skincare is fully absorbed and skin is dry before applying this.

My first try is to swipe it on my hand, the first thing I smell is Acetone. The scent is really really strong.

And within seconds, it dried up. We can either leave it overnight like suggested or removed after 15-30 minutes (up to your preference)

Actually you may notice Skincerity has already begun to “lift ” a little bit especially after leaving it for a while . I know most of us will be tempted to peel it off but please do not do that because that is not the right way to remove the mask. It would be painful & very drying.

Instead gently massaging the skin’s surface with warm water, soap or cleanser. Use a towel or Dermal-Cloth (which was provided) to remove any remaining film. While removing Sincerity, it would actually helps to slough off dead skin cells and impurities from our skin.

After trying on hand, definitely I took out my courage to try it on my face.

My review on Skincerity Nightly Breathable Masque

When I rolled Skincerity on my face, I got hold my breathe for a few seconds to let the acetone evaporated to the air (... left me breathless!) because the smell of the Acetone is pretty strong. And in fact I was sneezing a few times after that because I have really sensitive nose. The smell of Acetone faded away after a while and by then the masque on my face is already dry up. The roller was pretty easy to use but you got to be fast with your hands because you supposed to hold your breath as you are rolling it on your face remembered?

On some areas on my cheek which are more sensitive I feel a tingling session however it was gone after a while. My face feel tight once the masque is dried up. It feels like those peel off mask, where you not suppose no talk or laugh... or you will create more fine lines on the face. I think that's why they suggested to apply this before sleeping (unless you talk in your sleep).

After 30 minutes, I decided to remove it with the given Dermal cloth. Some masque on my forehead stuck on my hair and it is a hassle to remove it ( so you got to be careful where you apply). As this masque is not dis-solvable, remember to picked up from the basin and throw it at the dustbin. After washing it off, I do feel my skin feel softer and firmer. And when I look in the mirror I do see my skin feel brighter by a little bit and pores appeared smaller. I wonder if I have left it overnight, the result would more drastic.

Note : My usual my advice is if you have sensitive skin, do a patch test before using this on your face . If the Acetone scent is not that strong that will actually trigger my sensitive nose,  I would actually try it a few more times to see if it will really lighten my pigmentations.

Review : Clarins Double Serum

Clarins Double Serum has been around for about a year plus and even though I managed to get a bottle to try back then but then did not pay much attention to it because I did not see much result. Recently when I ran out of serum, I think why not give this another chance to try? After all this Clarins Double Serum is highly raved by my girlfriend Juli and Clarins claimed that 90% of Asian women agreed that Double Serum is more effective than their regular serums.

Clarins combines TWO powerful serum in one bottle, giving you TWICE the anti-ageing power with unique booster properties based on cell communication. It's unique formula of Hydric & Lipidic system (water & oil soluable) combines two formulas in one optimum golden ratio which replicates the model of hydrolipidic film, similar to the nature of the skin's natural protective barrier.

The two separate phases-presented in side-by-side vials enable the otherwise impossible combination of water and oil soluble ingredients with no risk of incompatibility or instability, and without recourse to emulsifier. With this design, Clarins guaranteed each pump produces “Golden Ratio” of the formula 80% serum and 20% oil. Interesting ya?

Clarins Double Serums consists of 20 plants ingredients and one of the ingredients is Clarins exclusive discovery which is Cangzhu extract which targets the G protein and thats the key of cell vitality as it helps to boost the effectiveness and performances of other active ingredients by improving receptivity of cells to external message. This vital extract also stimulates and revitalizes the skin's 5 vital functions for a more radiantly youthful skin.

Besides that ingredients such as below gives the following benefits :
- Katafray bark extract, hyaluronic acid : moisturising.
- Organic perilla and macadamia oils: nourish the skin.
- Organic quinoa and green tea extract: protective action.
- Maritime pine extract, organic rosehip oil: oxygenize the skin.
- Organic green banana extract, thyme and bocoa: regenerating action.

Spotted there is mineral oil in the ingredients list.

My review : My first impression of this Clarins Double Serum is that the it's highly perfumed (it was created by Japanese master perfumer). Usually I'm a big fan of Clarins's scent but this fruity/foral scent is a little bit too strong for my liking and luckily the scent lingers for a while before it completes fades off.

The texture of of the serum is light but oil base, hence it needs to be warm up using palm before applying. It absorb pretty well though I do feel a layer of filmy texture on top. It is recommended to use 3 pumps in the morning and/or evening before our usual moisturiser. 3 pumps is too much for my face hence I used it to apply my whole face and my neck too.

After a month of using Clarins Double Serum together with Clarins Extra-Firming Day & Night moisturiser. the only improvement I felt were my skin is a little bit firmer than usual. However I was a little bit disappointed when I did not see any other results. To me this works as an anti-ageing preventive serum rather than treatment serum and this would suits women 25 years and above. And I would personally prefer Clarins Hydraquench Serum over this any time.

Clarins Double Serum (Complete Age Control Concentrate) is available in all Clarins counters & Skin Spa for RM280/30ml . For more information, visit Clarins website here

Happy CNY 2014 & my visit to FGS Dong Zen Temple in Jenjarom

My OOTD on CNY eve. Was wearing a pink blouse with horse prints and Cotton On skirt.

Happy Chinese New Year everyone. Hope I'm not too late to wish you all a prosperous in this year of the Horse. I know I been away for too long. I was back to my hometown Segamat, Johor for 2 week. And in case you are wondering what I'm busy in that 2 weeks, besides helping my mum to prepare to celebrate CNY...

I was busy munching away a lot of CNY cookies, playing hangingwith my siblings, catching up with old schoolmates.. and right after that after that I felt sick and had a really bad allergy attacks. Went to doctor twice to take 2 jabs...and haven't actually recover yet.. until yesterday. Now still coughing and having headaches... I think this is post holiday symptoms.. Well let me do a short post on where I went yesterday :)

Since I got a little better yesterday, we went to our annual CNY visit to Fo Guang San Temple in Jenjarom. Well like every year... this year is also crowded... we are stucked in the jam for an hour when we are just like 15 minutes away.

Each year FGS Temple has different theme and they really put up a lot of effort in decorating it. Entrance fee is free and it's only opened for public visit within the 15 days of CNY. This is a tourist attraction so expect the crowd.

Happy to know that we arrived just in time to see the flower parade.

As you can see it's really really crowded...the lightings are really beautiful so recommended to go at evening or night. FGS Dong Zen temple are opened from 10.30am to 10pm (from the 1st to 15th day of CNY). More information visit http://www.fgs.org.my

The bird view of FGS Dong Zen Temple in Jenjaron for year 2014. We paid RM6/each person and took the ferris wheel. It was breezy up there and the view was really beautiful.

Yesterday OOTD. Wore Dorothy Perkins Blue Floral Bardot Dress which I bought for CNY

This is the wishing tree, where you can buy a small paper and write down your wish and hang it on it.

Spotted this and got to share this :) Self reminder for this year..to practice the 3 GOOD

And if you like taking pictures, don't forget to bring your camera along :)

I think I am going to rest a bit more, catch up with my work and I promise to come back to my blogging asap :)

GONG XI FATT CHAI everyone! I hope you have a galloping good year ahead!

GST Simplified

Malaysians have been hearing these words GST for several years now and some still can’t make sense of it. What exactly is it and how will it affect your life. Here is a simple explanation to make sure you are prepared for it when the GST is implemented in the future.
GST basically means Goods And Services Tax, a form of taxation that covers goods and services. It will replace the existing current sales tax (five to ten percent) and the services tax (six percent).
We are all familiar with taxes, as we pay all kinds as good citizens. We have the income tax, road tax, property tax, business tax which the government uses to develop the nation, for the economic welfare, pay for our children education so there is no school fees, pay for civil service, medical services and many other uses to make our lives more pleasant and easier.
There is more to taxes than just development. It also plays a role to reduce economic inequality and increases economic efficiency. This occurs when goods that are taxable are traded less in view of the tax burden.

The local trader gains when imported goods are taxed – as it encourages more people to buy the cheaper local goods. This is an essential trade strategy used by nations worldwide to protect the interest of its locals.
Then there is excise duty which is levied on alcoholic beverages and cigarettes Added tax burden ensures that drinking and smoking don’t proliferate in the country that it would hurt social development.
The proposed GST is adapted on the model practiced in 160 countries. It has been tested and proven to work in many developed countries such as in Europe, Australia, New Zealand and prove to work well in modern economies.

The reason for the introduction of GST is because the inherent weaknesses in the structure and the implementation of Sales Tax and Service Tax. For example, the current system at times results in a cascading effect where an item may be taxed twice. Other weaknesses include the ‘pyramiding effect’ where business along the distribution chain will normally apply mark-up on the tax element and the cost of product sold.
The GST affects a broader tax base because any consumer who consumed taxable goods and services will have to pay GST.
