StyleKandi’s Grand Launch in Aural, KL City Walk

Few weeks ago one of my favourite fashion website StyleKandi (www.stylekandi.com) Malaysia’s leading social network for style and all things trendy was regarded as one of the pioneering Asian online fashion platforms had their grand launch hosted by Antics Media.

It was held at Aural, KL City Walk to celebrate its milestone where guests were treated with unique Kandi Cocktails, celebrity charity fashion show featuring limited edition Pestle & Mortar tees and performance from local indie- rock band Kyoto Protocal and young Malaysian improv troupe, Artificially Intelligent Improvholics Anonymous (AIIA)

Mark Will, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Antics Media gave his welcoming speech at StyleKandi’s Grand Launch where he revealed to the guests that they are currently in talks with several high street brands to create brand and fashion-line campaigns within the platform, which will allow the brands to engage and interact directly with the StyleKandi community. Awesome!

Besides that StyleKandi has also introduced a hash tag system at the event, which allows easy and convenient posting directly from a user’s Twitter account, so that users are able to post pictures, which they have snapped on the go, by just adding #skpost to their pictorial tweets. StyleKandi has also now been translated, into Malay and will be translated into Mandarin very soon... how cool is that !

Kyoto Protocol rocks the house!

Review : Clarins HydraQuench Cream-Melt

I have talked a little about this Clarins New HydraQuench range in my previous post and here are my thoughts after used HydraQuench Cream-Melt for 1.5 month.

If you are a Clarins Hydraquench's user, you should know that Katafray extract is the main ingredients to the HydraQuench range and this has not been changed in the new formula. And the new thing in this range is rather the most talked about hydrating ingredient Hyaluronic Acid (extracted from the wheat) has been added into this new range to give more oomph i.e where it comes with two molecular weights, work to improve the protection of the skin surface and replenished dermal water reservoirs while katafray extract is to restore skin’s barrier effect and the production of natural moisturizing factors.

Besides that the scent of the product also has changed to a more Floral-Fruity Fragrance. Clarins has engaged with a Japanese perfumer to create this special scent which is specially created for Asia people. It has the green apple as the top note giving the fresh scent, gentle rose as the middle note giving the feminine scent and lastly woody as the base note giving the relaxing scent.

Clarins HydraQuench Cream-Melt

According to description, it is a non-oily, refreshingly soft texture that delivers the comfort of a cream with the lightness of a lotion. Leaves a silky powdered film that illuminates the complexion. Promise to give hydration all day. Strengthens the barrier effect of skin, optimizes the production of natural moisturization factors (NMF) and maintains optimal water reserves in skin. With Sorbier bud, it strengthens blood vessels that are made sensitive due to changes in climate and boosts microcirculation.

Packaging : Comes in oval glass jar, it's heavy, however you can feel that the cream is chilling when you scoop it out

Scent : Strong Floral- Fruity ( The first time I smell it, it smells very much like DKNY Delicious fragrance... I'm not joking!)

Texture of the cream-melt : Lightweight cream, suitable for all skin type (best for normal to dry skin type)

Price : RM180/50ml (lasts for more than 1.5 -2 month with day and night application)

My review : I have a normal to dry combination skin and this Clarins HydraQuench Cream-Melt's texture is one which I like very much to use. It is good to use during for day or night because it is lightweight and absorb very quickly into my skin upon application yet provide the needed moisture to my skin. As for the scent, I would personally prefer the old scent as it more mild and relaxing compare to this one which is more strong floral-fruity. Anyway the scent don't bother me anymore after a week of using it as I got used to it and usually the scent disappear after I applied on my skin. Overall, my skin hydration has improved and I could see my makeup seems to stay longer. Will repurchase this in the future !

Pros : Lightweight cream, Absorb very quickly into our skin upon application, Provides adequate hydration

Cons : Has too strong Floral Fruity scent to my liking (prefer old scent)

Note : If you have oily skin, you can opt for HydraQuench Cream-Gel.

Clarins HydraQuench range (which will be available only in Asia) will be on sale at all Clarins Skin Spa and counters starting from 1st September 2011 onwards and will be priced at

HydraQuench Intensive Serum Bi-Phase - RM 200
HydraQuench Cream-Gel (50m) - RM 180

FOTD : Oceanus eye makeup for Heineken Green Room Party

Yesterday I went to this awesome Heineken Green Room party and since the name of the event is GREEN, I decide to have some green colour eyeshadow on my eye makeup.

Let's see what I did ... in that 10 mins makeover since that I am actually going to be late for the event :D

Full face picture

For Face
Youngblood Mineral Primer as base
Lancome Teint Miracle Foundation in PO-03
Lancome Maqui Blanc Miracle Compact Foundation O-03
SkinFood Salmon Darkcircle Concealer Cream
Jill Stuart Blusher in #09 Little Bonquet

For eyes
Urban Decay Primer Portion ( The packaging is peeling and I cant stand it and removed it all away)
Kanebo Lavshuca in BR
Shu Uemura Graceful Bloom Palette
Lunasol palette in #04 Star River

p/s: Pls excuse me for my un-trimmed eyebrow. I gotta to make appointment for that now!

I decided to do a bit of colour mixing and Oceanus is my theme...i.e blue and green would be my main colour. And this is my first time writing down the steps after so long of not doing makeup of the day post, please excuse me if this sounds confusing.

I applied the beige colour from the Lavshuca palette all over my eyelid as a base colour. Then I applied the jungle green from the Shu Uemura palette all over the eyelid lightly and then the dark blue colour from Lunasol palette at the outer corner of the eyes to the middle and start blending in and mix with the jungle green colour. Then I applied the lime colour from the Shu Uemura palette at the inner corner of the eyelid and blend all the way to the middle. To make my eyes looked a bit bigger, I applied a thin line of jungle green colour below my eye lid from outer corner of my eyes to the middle and apply a little bit of lime colour at the lower eyelid from the middle to the inner of the eyes. Last but not least, I applied the white shimmering eyeshadow from Lunasol palette at my eyebrow.

Maybelline Magnum Volum Express Super Film Mascara
Maybelline Hypersharp Liner in Black
Kose Luminous Eyebrow pencil in GY 002

Lips
Maybelline Watershine Collagen Lipgloss in CP21

This is my new love, the colour is nude pink with no shimmer is perfect to pair with heavy eye makeup. This lip gloss has very nice sweet cherry scent and like to use it when the lip gloss is not sticky. Not only the colour of the lip gloss is pigmented, it gives my lips a very glossy look!

I think all my pictures are so exposed (means its too bright) and hence the eye makeup colour don't really show here *heartbroken*

Anyway hope you like this makeup :)

Clarins introduces New HydraQuench formula specifically for Asian Skin

Clarins HydraQuench range has always been a favourite of mine since I first try them few years back as it effectively hydrate my skin without any fuss. And I love the scent of the range as it gives me a sense of relaxation...

And recently Clarins introduces its new HydraQuench range specially formulated for Asian skin. Incorporated with the most effective, moisturizing plant ingredients, it acts simultaneously at all skin levels to revive vitality and radiance.

This is the ideal level of water level that we should have in our skin. And one asked why is it water is important to our skin? Simply because up to 60-70% of the human body is made up of water, hence we need to hydrate our body with water by drinking and skin by applying hydrating skincare in order to make the body and skin works well.

Here Clarins ran an Absorption test to show the important of keeping our skin hydrated before applying any products. They showed us two same looking sponge, where one is wet sponge (soak in water) and another one is a dry sponge. Then they drip some blue water on the sponge and waiting for it to absorb. You can see from the picture that, the wet sponge seems to absorb the blue water faster than then dry sponge. And the same applies to our skin, if our skin is dry/dehydrated it is difficult to absorb any product's nutrient that we apply. Hence it is important to keep our skin hydrated before we apply any other booster products such as whitening, anti-aging and etc so that the products can be absorb into our skin effectively.

What is the common cause of dehydration?

Environment factors such sun , air-condition room...
Internal factors such as stress, age...

So what is this New HyraQuench range?

As I mentioned earlier this is a range that only available in Asia as it is specially created for Asian skin. It's our hot and humid weather, we need skincare that can give effective long lasting hydration that suitable for all skin type. Hence Clarins came out with this new formula for best selling serum and moisturizer, i.e

The two key ingredients that present in this new range are hyaluronic acid and katafray extract that works together for the optimal effectiveness of Clarins HydraQuench range. The role of hyaluronic acid which comes with two molecular weights, work to improve the protection of the skin surface and replenished dermal water reservoirs while katafray extract is to restore skin’s barrier effect and the production of natural moisturizing factors.

Katafray extract, harvested from Madagascar is well-known for its healing properties among the villagers which they used it for local medicine and also beauty rituals for Madagascan women who use it as a mask. As an important ingredient in HydraQuench range, katafray extract is part of Clarins fair trade and sustainable development programme. A fixed amount from the sales of Katafray goes to supporting local community projects by supplying clean waters to the villagers and funding a school for the children. In 2007, Clarins replanted 10,000 katafray trees.
