Why do we need to include moisturiser in our daily skin care ritual?

Why do we need to include moisturiser in our daily skin care ritual?
A post shared by Jessying (@jessyings) on

When we are born, our skin automatically makes all the moisturizer it needed to be soft and healthy by creating sebum (combination of oil and waxes). As we age, skin’s natural moisturizing abilities begin to slow, leading to imbalance, causes unable to retain water and create lipids.

More often than not, people often thought that one only need moisturiser when their skin type is dry and people with oily skin can skip it totally. The fact is everyone needs to protect their skin from moisture loss just like our body. You can have oily skin but still lack water. The sun can both dehydrate and damage the skin, causing premature aging. Hence selecting the right moisturiser texture will help supplement your skin’s need.

Jurlique Rose Moisture Plus skin care range is a hydrating range and it uses pure Roses to hydrate, replenish and protect your skin, leaving it looking fresh, dewy and supply to meet the needs of people with dry and dehydrated skin. It creates occlusive layer on the skin that replaces water and helps retain it.

Every product in this range is rich in Jurlique unique Rose Complex. This sensuous blend of heritage Rose extracts from their biodynamic†Jurlique Farm, nourishing Rose Hip Oil, and Signature Rose Aroma leaves skin perfectly hydrated and smooth, with a youthful-looking, luminous glow.

Review & Tutorial : Mary Kay Into the Garden Colour Compact transform Day to Night Spring Makeup Look

Not sure if you realised two days ago was the first day of spring for 2016. Besides winter, I love to travel during spring because there is something undeniably inspiring about warm sunshine and fresh flowers, beautiful blooms and lush greens.

And I just received this pretty palette from Mary Kay at my doorstep which is just in time for spring! Mary Kay launched their limited edition Into the Garden Collection this spring with assortment of garden-inspired beauty must-haves developed in collaboration with Brazilian born fashion designer Patricia Bonaldi which perfectly captures fashion’s current fascination with florals.

Mary Kay Into the Garden Colour Compact is the all-in-one mirrored compact features four garden-inspired eye shadows and three ultrasheer lip glosses for endless color possibilities.

A close up look at the colour. So beautiful right?

My first thought when I saw the colour is I love the colour combination of the eye shadow which is easily suits all colour skin tone to create day to night makeup. And the lip colour combination is pretty has three very wearable colours to suits the eye shadow makeup.

Not forgetting the pretty season’s garden print on the casing which was made from hard cardboard material which would be great for travelling because it will be lighter than my usual metal casing.

As mentioned eye colours has a good combination of lighter & darker shade tone for me to blend to create day makeup to night makeup look easily.

Swatch of Mary Kay Into the Garden Colour Compact.

Colours are really pigmented, smooth and easy to pick up really well with one swipe. And out of the four colours, three of them (namely Natural Taupe, Pink and Violet) has a little bit shimmering effect.

I know some people are not into shimmering eye colour because they felt it's not easy to blend and looks a little bit too much. I think they key in using shimmer eye colour is the blending and always remember less is more! I actually put on shimmering eye colour daily because I felt it enhance my eyes and gives that extra "oomph" focus on my eyes!

Tutorial how to transform from day makeup to night makeup look using Mary Kay Into the Garden Colour Compact to create my spring makeup look this season!

Day look : I applied Natural Taupe colour lightly all over my eyelid  to brighten up the eyes. Next I took a little bit of Pink colour and apply from the centre eyelid towards the inner corners of the eyes. After I'm done, I put on Violet colour and blend from outer corner of my eyes to the inner corner of my eyes,  carefully blending in the color to obscure the borders between the shades. Don't forget to take a little bit of Natural Taupe colour and apply at the browbone as a highlighter.

Night look : Using the Day Look I have created, I top up darker shade Plum Brown and apply along the upper lash lines, again applying more color at the outer corners and slowly blend towards the centre of the eyes to create the smokey eyes look.

After putting on eye colour, I line the upper lash lines with black eyeliner before finishing it up with my favourite mascara.

Honestly I think this eye colours in this palette are great for everyday use because colours are really sweet and easy to play around and would be great benefit to beginners and to bring for travelling (because it's really light!).

And pink and violet are actually my sort of colours combination I wear quite often actually ... but in my case I have to match different palette to get this colour combination before having this palette colour combination in one palette. I personally think Pink and Violet are really a nice colour combination to give the sweet and romantic eyes makeup look, ah perfect to go for a date with this to mesmerize your sweetheart!

Next move to lip colour in Mary Kay Into the Garden Colour Compact ; Nude, Pink & Coral lip gloss.

Swatch of Mary Kay Into the Garden Colour Compact lip gloss colour.

Although the lip colour looks really pigmented on the packaging but when I swatch it it's pretty sheer... after all it does comply with its ultra sheer lip gloss formulation.

Among the 3 lip gloss colour, I only use Coral most of the time because Nude lip colour doesn't really make much difference on my lips (because of my pinkish natural lip colour) and Pink looks too frosty on me.

I would really love if there is a red lip colour because that's my favourite shade for lip colour!

But then again colour are really personally preference and I usually prefer darker or brighter lip colour shade because of my natural pinkish shade.

Which shade do you like the most among this 3 colours?

Although this is a lip gloss colour but it has some moisturizing effect to keep the lips hydrated and lips not feeling sticky after application, leaving the lips looking smooth and healthy. However the staying power only last me few hours with light meal in between.

This is my final spring makeup look I have created using Mary Kay Into the Garden Colour Compact.

Ah...What do you think? Pass or not ?

I think I'm ready for a spring picnic if I put on my cute floral hairband and dress!

So if you are the kind who loves all in one colours in one palette, I think you can consider Mary Kay Into the Garden Colour Compact because all the colours are simply wearable!

Mary Kay Into the Garden Colour Compact is currently selling at RM115.

TIPS : Recyle your chipping nails colour and gives a fresh new design!

Hey lovely people, are you having your Monday Blue! Let me cheer you up by sharing my tips on how to recyle your chipping nails colour and gives a fresh new design!

I guess everyone loves it when nail polish looked pretty & nail when it was it first applied right? So after a week or two (depends how well you take care of your nails), the nails colour at the tip of our nails usually began to chipped and looked really ugly. And that's usually a signal of us to visit the salon or DIY ourselves to remove it & re-applying it with a new colour. Don't you think is a waste of money & time sometimes?

Instead of the hassle of removing & applying a total new colour...I have my way of keeping the existing nail colour even when the tip of the nail colour has chipped. And it save your time & pocket money too!

Recycling the base colour of the nail colour & give a touch up!

So after a week more or so when my nail polish started to chipped instead of using the same nail colour to fill it up (which is boring) , I used a different colour and give my nail a fresh new design re-cycling the same colour base which I applied a week ago :) Rather than the tedious waiting period, applying at the tip nail only takes very little time!

I applied Max Factor Sunset Glossfinity Sunset Orange (if not mistaken RM22/10ml) and this is one my favourite colour from my stash because I could never go wrong with this! This bright & pigmented orange colour makes me happy.... as my fingers looked fair & it is so easy to apply! Not only it dried up pretty fast, the colour stays really glossy for more than 10 days (more than what it promised!) - longer when I applied top coat on this!

So when tip of the nails started chipping & looked ugly, I applied Ciate Paint Pots in Peppermint (RM52). I feel in love with the colour at the first sight, it is fresh mint green (this colour remind me of tiffany blue).

Instead of applying it like french manicure drawing a line across, I created the melting nail effect to give a little bit design to my nails!

To make sure your nail colour stay longer (double longer for the base colour!) don't forget to apply top coat on top of that! I tried Butter London P.D Quick Topcoat (RM64 for 17.5ml) at Sephora and I'm sold! Dried up amazingly fast & my nail is so glossy and pretty until today... super amazing and better than OPI or Essie ones! I am gonna get this when my top coat at home runs out!

Seriously it is really easy to do & need not much skill...Best of all, your friends might be thinking you just did your new nails design when in fact you just recycle your base nail colour & give your nails a new face lif by giving a little bit touch up !

Saving your time, money & effort too :)

Try them today!

Note: Ciate , Butter London nail polish is available in Sephora Malaysia. As for Max Factor Glossfinity, it should be available at all Max Factor counters.

FOTD : How to create the Party Look that steals attention!

Happy Saturday people!

I know I haven't been quality of not posting Face of the Day (FOTD) for quite a while. The reason is nowadays I am into natural makeup because it is fast to do & match with any of my outfit. However yesterday I took some effort to mix & play with the colour rather than having the boring natural eyes makeup for a change, as I'm attending a party at this very new & nice skybar in Tower 3 KLCC at night. I love how Marini's 57 club has a very nice view of the whole KL city from 57 floor!
Well I planned to wear a red lacey dress & I wanted to do something to make people notice my makeup so I decided to do blue-ish & greenish smokey eyes instead of the common black & brown colour and pair it with striking pink lip colour from the New Shiseido Lacquer Rouge!

So let's see how do I create the Party Look that steals attention!

The 10 products that I used in my FOTD
  1. Burberry Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Base
  2. Shiseido Radiant Lifting Foundation SPF 15 (Review here)
  3. YoungBlood Hi-Definition Hydrating Mineral Perfecting Powder (Translucent)
  4. Estee Lauder Blue Dahlia Five Colour Eyeshadow Palette
  5. Lunasol #03 Gentle Variation eye palette from Auroral Purification 2010 Collection
  6. L'oreal Paris Lash Architect 4D Mascara in Black
  7. Kiss Me Heroine Make Smooth Liquid Eyeliner N in Jet Black
  8. Avon Brown Definer in Dark Brown (Review here)
  9. Shiseido Lacquer Rouge in Disco RS404
  10. Avon True Colour Blush in T420 Cool Plum
*Now I remembered that I also used Maybelline Angel Fit Perfect Concealer but forgot to include in the picture*

Close up of my eyes makeup.

My striking hot pink lip using the New Shiseido Lacquer Rouge in Disco RS404 , a full review of this will be up soon!

How do you like my look, do you think it steals your attention?

Well I broke the tradition of having heavy smokey eyes using black colour and instead I went to mix the blue & green eyeshadow to create a softer smokey eyes to match my striking hot pink lip colour!

It's my intention to make Shiseido Lacquer Rouge in Disco RS404 to be the highlight of the makeover. And I think it was a sucess because it did steal the attention the moment I walk into the party!

p/s: I really like how Shiseido Lifting Radiant Foundation on my skin as it has really good coverage yet looking natural on my face. Like I said before, it basically help to "photoshop" my face!

Me at Marini's 57 Skybar and KLCC twin tower as my background!

Do you wish to see more of my Face of the Day makeup ?

If YES leave me a comment and I shall consider doing it more!
